A larger painting, 70 x 70 cm, again with the bird forms, but not as abstract as the previous three. The basis of the painting is a central circle, which I’ve often used in the past with my figurative paintings. The idea of the bird forms arranged across from top left to bottom right entered my mind before I’d started the work, though as the painting developed, more bird forms appeared in other places. That was about as far as it was pre-planned, and I was working on it for over a month, sometimes needing several days’ break, to allow solutions to come.
The exciting part of making this painting and in the series as a whole, comes in the arrangement of the bird forms, overlapping them to find new bird-ish shapes and treating them with pattern or plain colour. Along with other suggested shapes (seaweed or trees?) smaller circles amongst others, and my old friends the dots.

I hope you like my latest painting. I’m enjoying making this new series!
