Rua Viador, Monchique
My latest painting. I sketched it directly onto the canvas, partly to cut out the stage of sketching in my sketch book and transferring the drawing onto canvas.
It’s a view which I have painted a few times before, and each time the landscape has differences… the trees have grown and the farmer is actually visible this time. Some of his chickens are here again… Not to mention the changes in the colour palettes, and methods of execution. Dots and stencilling allows some abstraction now.
This is my fourth version of this landscape, and I am always looking for new landscapes for my subjects. If you have a favourite view of and around the Monchique hills which you think would make a good painting, do let me know… Thanks!
