I’m pleased to let you know that amongst all my watercolour paintings (and there are more), I have now just completed an acrylic canvas from my visit to the Watermill at Peso, the Moinho as it is in Portuguese. I first made a watercolour painting from my photograph, which strangely, bears very little resemblance to the acrylic painting ;-). That is what I get from allowing quite a lot of artistic licence. This is a great way to make art, I am discovering more and more these days.
The watermill, which isn’t in the painting, I think resides in a kind of shed on the site. So the rest is the landscaped grounds around the mill, plenty of interesting rocks, some with water splashing over them, and some with water curving its way around them. This is one of the great pleasures of living in this area, with so much living water running freely.

Here are some of my recent watercolour paintings, in no particular order. I visited Sintra last month, as there are several sites I hadn’t visited before. My main interest was the Well at Quinta das Regaleira, as I’d seen it in photos and found it fascinating. It was in fact necessary to wait in a long queue to enter the well, which meant the creepy atmosphere was lost, diluted by so many living people, tourists, filling the well. I will attempt a painting from this experience, minus the tourists (probably) at some stage.

Thank you for reading my post and I hope you enjoyed the paintings. If you would like to receive notifications of my blog posts featuring new work, please subscribe, above.
Until next time,
best wishes,
